Frequently Asked Questions

Roadside assistance FAQ.

What roadside services does Vanguard provide?

Vanguard provides roadside tire plug service, tire changes using a usable spare, battery jump-start assistance, vehicle lockout assistance, and fuel delivery.

How do I request roadside assistance?

Use the roadside request form to provide your name, phone number, service type, vehicle information, exact location, and what happened. You can also call Vanguard directly at (502) 390-7850.

Can I share my phone location?

Yes. When browser location access is available, the request form can use your current location. You can also enter a street, landmark, parking lot, or other precise location manually.

Are the prices on the website guaranteed flat rates?

No. The website lists starting prices. Travel distance, vehicle type, accessibility, service complexity, roadside conditions, and additional work can change the final approved amount.

Will Vanguard tell me if the price changes?

Yes. If the amount changes after reviewing the request, the updated price is communicated before service begins.

Is there an after-hours charge?

Yes. Requests between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM include the listed $30 after-hours service charge.

Can a punctured tire always be repaired?

No. Plug suitability depends on tire condition, the location and type of damage, and whether an appropriate roadside repair can be performed under the conditions of the call.

What happens if my tire cannot be plugged?

If a tire plug is not appropriate and the vehicle has a usable spare, Vanguard can install the spare through the roadside tire-change service.

Do I need a spare for a tire change?

Yes. Vanguard's roadside tire-change service is based on installing a usable spare supplied with or for the vehicle.

Does a successful jump start mean the battery is good?

No. A jump start is intended to help get the vehicle started. It does not establish the long-term condition of the battery, alternator, starter, or charging system.

What should I include in a lockout request?

Provide the year, make, and model when possible, the exact location of the vehicle, and any details that may affect access.

Is fuel included in the fuel-delivery starting price?

No. Fuel delivery starts at $59 for the roadside service, and the cost of the fuel delivered is separate.

Do you take requests outside the 20-mile local service area?

Yes. Requests between approximately 20 and 65 miles can be considered based on current availability, travel distance, service type, accessibility, and roadside conditions.

How do I know whether my location can be serviced?

Submit the exact vehicle location or call Vanguard. The actual location is reviewed before the service is confirmed.

What if I am stopped in an unsafe traffic position?

If there is immediate danger, a crash, fire, injury, or another emergency, contact 911. Roadside assistance is not a substitute for emergency services.
